Following the assignment guidelines below, you will submit a written reflection paper on your nurse educator interview by the end of week 4.
Assignment Guidelines
Your interview paper should include:
- Who does the interviewee teach?
- What does your interviewee teach and where?
- Trends and changes in nursing education as experienced by the person you interviewed.
- A reflection that compares your interview data to class readings and the literature that you reviewed prior to conducting the interview (pay special attention to trends, themes, concepts, and changes in nursing education)
- What you learned as a result of this assignment
- A conclusion discussing your personal thoughts, opinions, views, and insights related to the specific area of nursing education of your interviewee
Lets begin will stating that a nurse educator is not just the educator of nursing students. A nurse educator is the educator of all nurses in some form or another. Whether that nurse just started nursing school or if that nurse has been a nurse for over 10 years, they all need the help of an academic nurse educator throughout their lives. I chose to do my interview with Mrs Telliyan, Armenui a nursing instructor at Glendale Community College. Mrs. Telliyan has been an instructor at this college for more than 7 years now. Prior to this she was an educator in the hospital setting in the emergency room. I had the privilege of working with Mrs. Armenui when I was working on the floor as a nurse. We would be the floor that she would bring the nursing students to for clinicals. This was when Mrs. Armenui had just started teaching clinicals.

3-What are the qualities most needed to be a successful academic nurse educator?
4- Describe the academic nurse educator’s role, student population, courses taught, and learning environment.

6- Describe your role as an instructor in students meeting learning outcomes?
7-Do you feel as though your role changes depending on what the learning outcomes are?
8- As a novice, what was the best advice you were given if any? What advice would you give to a novice academic nurse educator?
9- How has interprofessional collaboration assisted you as a nurse educator?
10- Have you attended any workshops? If so, have how did they help you as a novice?
11- Has technology transformed nursing education and your role as an educator?
12- What is your organization’s expectations of you regarding your role in teaching, scholarship and maintaining your clinical expertise in practice?
