Strengthening the Child Welfare System for America's Children

• What is the policy aimed to do and is it achieving its goals and objectives?
• What are some of the existing critics or proponents of the law/executive order articulating?
• Were the legislative branch and the executive branch in agreement on the policy? Why or why not?
• Did any branch of government exert any influence to block the law or executive order? If so, what branch and did they use powers under checks and balances?
• What are the implications of the law/executive order?
• Does it affect the states? If so, how?

General Standards

• The paper should be a FULL 4 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman, 12 pt. font with normal margins.    

• Please use at least five (5) outside, credible sources for the paper.  Each source must be properly cited by the student’s choice of citation device (MLA, APA, etc.).  Using the course textbook does not constitute one of the five sources. However, it can be used as a sixth source.
• Internet sources must be vetted. Peer reviewed sources, such as articles or journals, are the standard.  Similarly, are articles and editorials from national papers that are located online.
• A paper will receive a zero if it is not properly cited (in-text citations) and if it does not include a legitimate works cited page.  These will be the first aspects of the paper I will examine prior to grading.
