In addition to corrections in grammar, style, and format it will be necessary to contribute TWO additional pages worth of NEW, relevant material. These additions should not strictly be at the beginning or the end of your paper. Throughout the paper you may add sentences to specific paragraphs in order to clarify your thinking or in some cases one or two words that help clarify your point, idea, or image. The idea is to take a rough essay and turn it into a polished work that highlights your improvement during the semester.
FORMAT:
The minimum length of this assignment is TWO additional pages of NEW material. If your original essay was three pages, your revised essay will be a minimum of five pages (and possibly longer). If your original essay failed to meet the original length requirements, you are still required to complete your final revision as if it did, so no essays should be under four pages. If your initial essay was longer than the original minimum length, you will still be adding a full TWO pages to your original essay. If you failed to turn in any of the essays, you may not use this essay for your revision as the entire thing will be a new product.
For further clarification on the additional material, if you change your title, this does not count as new material. That is a revision. The length requirement refers to TWO additional pages of information that was not in your first essay. This may include additional sources, expansion of mentioned ideas, or new developments in your topic.
Papers must be typed, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New Roman, with one-inch margins and adhere to all MLA standards. Any papers that deliberately manipulate any of these stipulations in order to gain length will be docked a minimum of a full letter grade. I will not accept any assignments which are not in proper MLA format.
Any assignments which do not meet the minimum length requirements will be docked a minimum of a full letter grade per half page. For example, if you turn a revised essay with just one additional page of new material that is at the B level, your grade would be dropped to a D.
