In this assignment you will research materials relevant to Vocational Education(VET) related topics, answer questions about them, and then present the information in a work-related document for each. 30%

Total Word limit for Topic A and Topic B: 1000-1200 words (500-600 words for each topic)

For this assignment, you will be asked to find, digest and evaluate sources on two topics relevant to VET. Well call these Topics A and B. For example, you might choose Training for the beauty industry and The decline in apprenticeship numbers in Australia. You are to report on and analyse the sources; and then use them to write a work-related document for each topic.

Both topics should cover following points, only point number 5 will be different for topic B

1. What is the topic? Provide a clear statement of your Topic.

2. Finding sources. Find two relevant sources on topic and list them

3. Summaries. Write a brief summary of what each source says about Topic  (a paragraph for each source). Ensure you explain their key points/arguments.

4. Evaluating the quality of the sources. Write a paragraph for each source about its quality, using the section in your Module on Evaluating the quality of sources, and any additional points you want to make. Conclude this section with a paragraph comparing the two sources and saying which source you think is most helpful.

5. Informing colleagues. Think of colleagues you would like to inform about Topic A. Say who they are (you neednt use their names, but say who they are – e.g. teachers, industry contacts), and write the text of a short email to them (two or three paragraphs) explaining what you have found out about the topic from the sources.

Note number 5 is only for Topic A for Topic B, you need to add this

5. Formal writing. Think about what a manager in your organisation might like to know about Topic B. Write down the managers position title, and write a document of around half a page, setting out the main issues from the two sources. Say why and how Topic B is important to the organisation.
