Create a diagram of the system/workflow you are analyzing from a ‘before’ or ‘current’ view of the system AND an ‘after’ view of the new improved system. The topic for this diagram should be your approved Problem and Technological Innovation for your Final Project.
The easiest program to utilize is PowerPoint as this is the program that you will use when compiling your entire technological innovation project. You may use any other diagramming program that you are familiar with as well, as long as you are able to export it into Microsoft word format for Submission.
You will create two diagrams: The first diagram demonstrates all the detailed steps involved in the task (or problem that you chose and was approved) and is called the ‘workflow process’. The second diagram demonstrates the improvement in this workflow process that occurs when you apply the technology that you have chosen as your innovation. When looking at the two designs, you should see obvious, positive benefits of informatics for the topic/healthcare problem you have chosen!
When you submit your before and after diagrams, some programs may require you to save your diagram in picture format (.jpg) and then ‘Insert’ the picture into a Microsoft Office Word format (.doc or .docx). You can also submit your diagrams in PowerPoint format (.ppt or .pptx).
