Developing surveillance skill sets and methodologies can give a competitive and professional edge to individuals working in the healthcare industry in positions ranging from epidemiologists who do the surveillance, collecting, interpreting, and reporting of the data to health educators who use the data to promote health education plans or prevention campaigns. In addition, healthcare administrators benefit from knowing how to interpret and report surveillance data by being able to use the data to budget and manage resources.
