Medicinal Plant Project: TEA- Rough Draft
i’M WRITING ABOUT TEA…
Medicinal Plant FINAL Draft
As you write your FINAL Draft, imagine that you are writing a brief overview about your particular plant that will be shared with a general audience. When you write to a general audience, you need to be sure that you define technical terms and give relatively equal attention to each section of your paper.
I’d like you to shoot for at least two (2) paragraphs per outline main topic, and you need to organize your paper the same way that the outline is organized (by the following heading): Names, Description and History, Conventional Medical Uses, Alternative Medical Uses, Research, Health Risks, and Recommendations/Precautions, and finally your References.
Rough/Final Draft Requirements
- Under the heading Names, be sure to have the scientific and common names of your plant (must be correctly formatted)
- Under the heading Description and History, be sure to include a brief description of the plant and any historical information that you find interesting. Historical information could also be included under the headings Conventional Medical Uses and/or Alternative Medical Uses. Organize this information in a way that you feel is logical -but- do not repeat information in multiple sections.
- Under the heading Conventional Medical Uses, describe the primary medical uses of the plant in conventional medicine (Is it prescribed or suggested by regular doctors with medical degrees?)
- Under the heading Alternative Medical Uses, describe the primary medical uses of the plant in alternative, traditional or folk medicine (for example, how do/have herbalists, yerberos, naturopathic, homeopathic or Chinese doctors use this plant)
- Under the heading Research, provide a summary of any research that supports and/or refutes your plant’s effectiveness as a treatment for medical conditions.
- Under the heading Health Risks, describe the health risks associated with using this plant, or its derivatives (the contraindications).
- Under the heading Recommendations/Precautions, you should provide your personal opinion, based on what you have learned about your medicinal plant. Would you use this plant to treat an ailment? Would you recommend its use to family/friends? Explain why or why not.
- Include at least one illustration of your plant. Be sure that your images have a descriptive caption and an in-text citation.
- Include a link to a video that relates to your plant or medicinal plants in general. Make sure that this is inserted in a way that makes sense with the information in your research paper page.
- Insert at least two hypertext links to credible webpages for additional information on any particular topic in your research paper.
- Include a References section (with corresponding in-text citations) properly formatted using CSE. You must have at least (4) different reliable sources.
