Media discourse analysis of a disaster according to the theoretical frameworks and conceptslearned in the course to illustrate the functional dimension of language in shaping our understandings of disaster risk. Option B will be divided into 5 main sections:1. Choose a disaster and provide a description of the socio-cultural-historical context, including its causes, the physical and social impacts, and vulnerabilities that contributed to or worsened disaster experience. 2. Select 5-10 media reports (news articles) that were published about your chosen disaster during and/or after the event.3. These 5-10 media reports will constitute your teams data, and with these data you must carry out an analysis of how language in each article construes new values* through a number of linguistic devices*. For this section, you must include a written analysis (paragraphs) of 10-14** examples of language that represent at least 4 different linguistic devices, and in turn, construe at least 3 distinct news values. 4. Your team will provide a description of the implication of discursive framing on disaster perception generally, and speculate (from your analysis) what the implications of framing have been on perception as it relates to your chosen disaster (drawing on at least one course referencefrom Weeks 5 or 6)5. Finally, your team will draw on the way media framed your chosen disaster and apply Boholms Relational Theory of Risk to explain how risk emerges through interaction and from situated cognition*Description and example outlined below**10 examples if you submit individually; 14 examples if you submit as a twosome
