Mary Shelley
Select a topic that interests you. Keep in mind, you will need to ORGANIZE this one page essay (300-350 word document) around three main headings:
A. HISTORIC BACKGROUND
B. LASTING VALUE OF THE PERSON, INNOVATION, OR WORK
C. WHY I SELECTED THIS TOPIC
Don’t forget to look at the sample Research Report attached at the end of these instructions. Click on the link to bring it up. 😒
1. FIND A TOPIC THAT INTERESTS YOU: Our text book, Landmarks in Humanities is loaded with lots of people, movements, or conceptual ideas. Go there. Scan the concepts, people, or processes that have shaped our human output of ideas, creations, philosophies, mathematics, paintings, etc. Once selected, tell us which period or era your topic falls into: Enlightenment, Romanticism, Materialism, Modernism, or Globalism. Put dates where needed. Our textbook is your new best friend!🌹 But do look in college library data bases once you have decided on your topic, which will give you author, title, source, and dates.
2. BASIC LAYOUT INFO: Make this a fun paper. It’s only one page, single spaced. So, razor out filler stuff. Single space. (Write 350-400 words). Make your text submission fit ONE PAGE.
Place FOOTNOTES on a 2nd page. Use either Modern Language Association (MLA) or American Psychological Association (APA) writeup styles as formats for footnotes. Have at least four (4) footnotes to show you really "went the distance" for the reader. Footnotes tell the source of your ideas. They come from experts in a field of inquiry or study. Footnotes prevent lawsuits for stealing an idea from an expert (known as plagiarism) and saying its our idea.😫
4. Have at least FOUR FOOTNOTES from a LIBRARY data base at a college or public library online. We need a data base to obtain specific, in depth information that has been verified as the "truth." We can also use magazines, newspapers, or books. So, avoid and don’t use Google articles that do not provide author, date, source, etc. Avoid being charged with stealing what you did not originate. A competent footnote lists AUTHOR, TITLE, SOURCE, & DATE. Pleaseeeeeeee do not use URL links or html addresses. 😁
5. Find your historical, cultural, fine art, or scientific topic in a data base within a college or university online library. If you need help, go to CHAT. This can be found under the Help button on the left column. Work with an online reference librarian. Be prepared to WRITE DOWN the author, source, and dates for your topic. Jot down 4-5 meaningful references that relate to your topic. Again: Don’t forget: author, title, source, & date. Collect pertinent historical processes, people, ideas, statistics, etc. that round out or substantiate your topic. Use 3 X 5 cards purchased at a discount store. Read an article. Place one finding on one card so you can arrange them in order once you have completed an outline for your paper.
Use these MAIN HEADINGS for both the report. These headings will help you organize the report which should be all on one page single spaced. Remember to type these heading in capitals and divide your report into three sections for organizational purposes. This makes the writing flow better and help the reader appreciate the work you’ve put into this well crafted essay.
Again, here is the required format:😎
A. HISTORIC BACKGROUND
B. LASTING VALUE OF THE PERSON, INNOVATION, OR ARTWORK
C. WHY I SELECTED THIS TOPIC
