Management Principles: Controlling & Leading

Scenario

You have volunteered to organize a fundraiser for your childs schoolsports team to purchase new uniforms. For your event to be successful, you are responsible for all aspects ofits management: staffing, planning, organizing, controlling, and leading.  The general information known includes:

        You have a team of 15 volunteers to assist

        $1,600.00 is the cost to purchase the uniforms

        A local fire department has offered its picnicgrove for use for free

        Many local businesses (restaurants, bars, retailstores, etc.) have committed to donating goods or services to your event

The School Board has requested you submit a formal proposal detailingeach of these aspects and how you will manage/lead the process to completionbefore they approve the event.

The next functionof management you will be handling is controlling.  Now that you have designed the way you willrun the event and how each facet will be handled, you need to decide what youwant to control/monitor, and how you will do so.  For this weeks first proposal section, describehow you will control each of these operational functions:

        Staff

        Inventory (donations)

        Revenue

B.    Leading

The final function of management you will carry out, and oneof the most important for the overall success of the event, is leading.  In this weeks proposal section, describe indetail how you will lead/manage your team to a successful event outcome.
