Thewomen that we are considering this week represent the spectrum of Second Wavefeminists, and in some senses, the Third Wave. They take on the idea of the malegaze the idea that we view the world from the male perspective. They seek tofind an identity that is distinctly their own, not one constructed from socialpressure and expectation. Or, conversely, they take on the idea thesexualization of perspective completely, attempting to make their artgenderless.

 Usingexamples from your required sources (see below), consider identity. As withintersetionality, it has many components: race, ethnicity, class, et cetera. Isit possible to consciously remove gender from the way we see the world? Is itmore equal to produce art from more gender perspectives or to try to erasegender from it completely? Or would that erase a part of who and what we are,denying us our individuality?
