ICT
Instructions:
For this assignment, you will need to find a piece of recent news about an ICT policy issue with an international or non-US component and relate it back to what we have been discussing and/or reading in class from the past few weeks. For example, equal access to information through the Internet is of concern in many parts of the world, but most countries do not approach access to information the same.
You can find recent news articles about ICT issues on sites dedicated to tech-news such as Wired, Gizmodo, and TechCrunch; most major U.S. newspapers such as the USA Today, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and LA Times; or sources such as BBC News, Reuters, Associated Press, etc. that features international headlines often.
Responses must be double-spaced, with one-inch margins. Use 12-point Times New Roman or Arial font. Be sure to include your name, the course number, and the title of the assignment (News Brief 2). Responses must be a minimum of 750 words. Submissions should also include a table (can use tables in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or some other software) that compares (details the analysis) of each country. Consider including the categories included in the sample table below. Remember you should be originally analyzing a country besides the U.S. and then comparing either the real or a hypothetical, but educated response as to how the U.S. would handle things.

This news brief must include:
- A brief summary of the article.
- A discussion of the ICT policy issue or problem highlighted by the story.
- An analysis of how the originating country is handling the issue or problem. Be sure to discuss potential laws or policies that address the issue/problem. If none currently, speculate on how it could be handled.
- An analysis of how US or another country would handle the issue or problem.
- How does US law (or another country’s) address the problem/issue?
- Is there an existing solution for how to handle the issue/problem in the US or another country?
- If not, can you propose a hypothesis based on what you have learned about US law and policy?
- Be sure to relate the news story back to discussions in class or readings we have done. For example, you might briefly address a question, such as:
- Is the news story highlighting an example of a violation of an existing ICT law or policy in the US or the country of origin?
- Is a new technology or technological practice complicating older ICT policy?
- Is there a debate emerging or continuing regarding a new ICT policy?
- Does the news story shed a new light, or provide a different viewpoint about a policy we have been discussing in class?
- Be sure to provide bibliographic information for the news article and any other resources you consult in in completing this assignment.
