Examine yourself as a clinical leader.  What Competencies do you already demonstrate in your work?  How can you improve your own practice to meet the Competencies and further develop yourself as leader? The assignment consists of a 3-5 page APA style paper discussing the AONE Nurse Executive Competencies (community & relationship mgmt, professionalism, knowledge of healthcare environment, business skills and principles, and leadership) reflection of both the best and worst managers you have every worked with, and also reflection of self as leader.  Remember, a manager and leader are two separate roles so the leaders you discuss may not be in a type of management role.  Don’t forget to discuss the AONE Nurse Executive Competencies and also relate them to the best/worst leaders you discuss and also to yourself.  What competencies are you already meeting?  What competencies do you need to work toward strengthening to improve your leadership skills?  There is a grading rubric posted within the Week 5 Accomplish folder.  Please utilize the rubric to guide your writing. Also, please honor anonymity when writing your paper.  Discussion of the leader is needed but not the name of the facility or the leader being discussed.
