These are the instructions so far:
At the end of the semester, students will produce a final paper which describes a hypothetical neuroscience experiment that they have designed. This will require research into previous experiments, as well as including novel ideas that describe individual research questions. Initial topic ideas must be emailed to me by 12AM, 4/23/21
I will update them as I learn more about the paper.
Update:
My professor changed some of requirements for the paper. Rather than going through the entire experiment, we only have to write a prospectus, and instead of being 8-9 pages, it should be around 6-7. The due date was also pushed back. Would you be able to send me a draft by this Wednesday or Thursday?
The rubric was also posted this week. Ill add it to the materials along with the idea I submitted for the experiment and my professors feedback. If you want though you can change the idea. I was also thinking of doing my topic on the psychological effects of Covid-19, or which brain areas it affected, though I was hesitant to because I would be dealing with a relatively new body of research. Anyways, as long as the topic is experimental (and not observational), you should be able to write on it.
Oh, and my professor provided us with an example prospectus, but you dont have to go into as much detail as is included there.
Ill post that too with some slides on experimental techniques (fmri, macro electrodes, microdialysis, stereotaxic surgery, etc). I guess my professor was leaning towards wanting me to use fMRI. If you need any other additional materials, I can post those too. Sorry if the instructions arent very clear. We werent given anything apart from the rubric, and I was a bit confused as well for the longest time. If you have any questions, just ask.
