Based upon what you know of Socrates, do you think he would have been a good teacher? How would you define a “good” course?
For this assignment, please read the Euthyphro in your textbook (pages 6-23) and then respond to the following:
Socrates is charged with corrupting the youth, inventing new gods, and denying the old ones. As you know, Socrates is pushing back against the inadequate definitions and subjective descriptions that people in power were using to explain their reasoning behind a variety of different subjects, including the reasoning behind his indictment and the indictment that Euthyphro was bringing against his father. He is forcing people who claim to have the power of understanding to define their terms and beliefs in a clear, coherent, and universal way. It doesn’t end well for him, as you are aware.
1. Based upon what you know of Socrates, do you think he would have been a good teacher? How would you define a “good” course? (Remember, you have to support your answer with a quote from the text of the book.)
