In this final learning team presentation, you will reflect on techniques, processes, situations, and genres in order to produce useful synthesizing insights.
Consider the following questions:
- Which creative techniques are most useful for which genres?
- How do writing processes differ according to genre?
- How should writing processes differ according to genre?
- How do individual writing processes differ from collaborative writing processes?
- What can writers learn through revision?
- What can writers learn about writing through giving others feedback?
- Is it easier to revise poetry, fiction, or personal essays?
During the Week:
Discuss these topics until your team reaches a consensus, or until you have analyzed why you disagree. Keep discussing these topics until your team agrees, or until you can identify what factors cause the disagreements. Everyone needs to contribute to each topical discussion. Do not divvy up the topics above and have one or some of the team address them. If your team uses outside platforms to discuss the topics, post the link to that discussion in your forum so I may access the information to evaluate individual participation for the project.
In addition to reflecting on what your team learned through individual and collaborative experience, incorporate at least three academic sources beyond your textbook into your synthesizing presentation.
Visually Prepare the presentation slides with clear, concise information that does not crowd the slide or take the audience’s attention away from the speaker (i.e. by forcing them to read instead of listen). Any visual aides included must provide relevant and complementary information (e.g. graphs, statistics, etc.). Do not include any purely decorative clipart or other visual element. Use readable font colors and sizes that are consistent across the presentation.
Present your team’s conclusions in 12 to 16 slides plus a final reference slide (in APA format), each with detailed speaker notes. Speaker notes should house the bulk of the content and discussion and should run at least a paragraph for each point. Do not provide skimpy speakers notes of a few sentences as this is the main delivery of your support and discussion for your main points.
