Since March 2020, we all have been living through an historical pandemic with leadership intervening, or not, at every level of government and at every level in all organization, families, small businesses, huge businesses, and certainly healthcare. At this point in the course, we have explored leadership theory, followership, emotional intelligence, ethics, learning organizations, organizational culture, power, and justice. In a 4 page APA formatted paper and using the topics in the first 3 modules, discuss and analyze the leadership you have witnessed at micro and meso levels of the organization. Include how leaders at various levels have influenced followers and outcomes through his/her leadership style. This has been such a profound and complex event with what seems like thousands of leaders involved, and you by no means can include all in your analysis. Therefore, limit the leaders to 2 different levels of influence. Your choice of leaders to analyze may represent strong and effective leadership or weak and ineffective leadership or components of both effective and ineffective. As examples: Patient Care Manager, Director, Charge Nurses, HOA. Use course references to support your analysis. Module one- Trace the development of leadership science throughout the 20th century and identify the gaps that remain in knowledge about leadership. Discuss Heifetzs theory of leadership, including relevance of this model of leadership for contemporary global healthcare. Analyze the meaning of leadership and followership and explore how use of these concepts can benefit you as a clinical nursing leader. Reflect on the fit between your own values and beliefs and contemporary leadership theory and select a theoretical approach that you feel will be useful in your role as a clinical nursing leader. Analyze how management and leadership differ but are related Module two- Identify and utilize your identified leadership strengths. Critically examine the values you hold most precious in light of the moral and ethical paradoxes you see in health care and evaluate how your values guide your approach to decision making and how your decision making style compares with those described in the literature. Analyze the criteria which are most central to your decisions as a clinical leader and how you resolve apparently intractable dilemmas. (e.g., Are positions of right and wrong most important to you? Protecting relationships with others or considering the impact of your decisions on others? A sense of fair play?) Analyze the importance of emotional intelligence and influence in leadership Module three- Analyze how the unique features of health care organizations affect the challenges of leadership in such organizations. Analyze how the stage of life of an organization affects the extent to which a leader can influence organizational culture and the type of leadership that might be most effective. Reflect on and analyze the importance of the interaction between the organizations culture and underlying values and the role and effectiveness of leaders. Critically analyze the characteristics of learning organizations and the implications for Leadership in nursing
