Informative Speech
The speech should contain 2-5 main points and demonstrate an unbiased presentation of the topic.
At least 4 different sources of information and adequate types of supporting material are to be used. The majority of your information should come from the databases that can be accessed from the Hinds Library Website. If you have any questions about questions about accessing the Internet website OR about ANY RESEARCH please contact James Kennedy at . He is very familiar with my classes and what is expected of the speeches. He has even created a special page for the Speech Department to aid in research.
Only one Internetoutside–source may be used.
A complete preparation outline and bibliography are required. 2 one-sided notecards may be used, if connected appropriately. This will be the first major speech you will submit. Sample Outlines are provided.
The formal outline and speech are a package. If the formal outline (APA format) is not submitted by the deadline the speech will not be graded. Points deducted from the outline will be reflected on your speech. If there is no bibliography at all (which is part of your formal outline) there will be an automatic 15-point penalty.
