- Your response to another students’ post Wednesday, June 23rd (40 points)
- If anyone asks you a question, you have until Thursday, June 24th (10 points)
- (A) Do you think sexually explicit videos (pornography, erotica, etc.) are helpful or harmful? Why? (B) What place, if any, do they have in society? Explain. (C) Under what conditions, if any, can pornography/erotica be problematic?
- (A) If you were to have kids, what age is the earliest age you think you would discuss sexuality with them? If you already have kids, now looking back, what age would you have started this conversation? (B) What types of issues would you discuss with them at that age?
- In the US, there are two variations of sex education, All-Inclusive Education where everything is discussed, abstinence, contraception & other ways to protect STIs and pregnancy, abortion, healthy relationships, masturbation, sexual identity including orientation and gender identity OR Abstinence Only, where they are only allowed to discuss abstinence (refraining from sex until marriage), students in these types of programs are told and expected to wait until marriage to have sex and questions about sex outside the confines of marriage and contraception are typically not answered or addressed if it is out of the scope of abstinence. They also typically do not discuss contraception & other ways to protect against STIs and pregnancy, abortion, masturbation, sexual orientation and gender identity – which are covered in all-inclusive (depending who is teaching you).
