The general format will be similar to the previous two primary source research papers, but the Critical Assignment will require more depth of research, greater reflection, and additional detail in writing. This is the Critical Assignment for this course and must be passed at an acceptable rate in order to pass the course. The Critical Assignment will consist of the following sections:
- Title page
- Introduction This should include a brief description of the authors life, and the books thesis and argument. (half page minimum)
- Authors argument This section should demonstrate how the author argues his thesis in detail. (3 pages minimum)
- Personal Reflection The student will evaluate how the thesis and argument are especially relevant to each of the points below (The personal reflection section must be 2.5 pages minimum):
- ones personal spirituality/piety (two points minimum).
- the Christian Church (two points minimum).
- Bibliography include at least three academic sources besides the assigned primary source (not including course textbooks; academic and relevant to the topic(s) being analyzed in the paper).
Formatting and Mechanics Paper assessment will also take the following into account:
- The paper is formatted properly (12-point font, Times New Roman font, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, submitted as .doc or .pdf file).
- The student uses correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
