STEP TWO: Think about the ways the Cult of Domesticity changes women’s role in US society. Consider why the Cult of Domesticity might have developed in reaction to the changes brought about by the Market Revolution.

STEP THREE: Respond to one of the following questions below (one only):

A) How did the ideals of True Womanhood (Cult of Domesticity) exclude women in the United States? Who would be unable to claim this role and why?

B) How did women embrace the role of True Womanhood (Cult of Domesticity)? List three ways and explain how these women were laying claim to this ideal.

C) How did women who were not in the Middle Class or Elite classes attempt to portray themselves as worthy of True Womanhood (Cult of Domesticity)?
