Introduction
The prices ofenergy drinks have been increasing over time because of the increasing marketdemand of young adults, teeners, and older people. Several studies conducted onenergy drinks have given varied results, and the consumers are in dilemma ofwhether it has a positive or negative impact on their health. Hopefully, thisresearch paper will fill gaps of doubts on the impacts of energy drinks thoseother researchers did not cover. Those researchers claim that adolescents andyoung people’s aggressive consumption of energy drinks gives them the energythat improves their physical fitness and cognitive performance. However, someauthors highlight the adverse health impacts of the aggressive consumption ofenergy drinks. The adverse health impacts brought about by differentingredients’ availability may make it toxic (Bamia & Cornelis, 2019, 111).The availability of caffeine, carbohydrates, taurine, and vitamins B makes itquestionable for a positive impact on health hence the need to study if theenergy drinks are bad. This research paper will present the research strategyto be employed, the target population, the method of designing the targetpopulation, and the characteristics of the participants.
Research strategy
This researchanticipates completion by using questionnaires that will be supplied to thetarget market. The questionnaires will have some open-ended questions andclosed-ended questions for capturing all the required details. For the researchto cover a wide range of populations, it will also consider interviews with thetarget population, considering those who may not read and write. Some interviewswill be done on the phone to reduce the costs, while some will be face-to-faceinterviews (Badke, 2017, 213). Observation will also be used as the datacollection method by observing those who consume energy drinks without anyphysical effect.
The collecteddata will be analyzed using both qualitative and quantitative statisticalmethods. Although it is almost similar to the qualitative research strategy, the interpretive research strategy will also be employed. This strategy will beused to demonstrate aggressive consumers’ health reality through an observationprocess rather than a hypothesis testing process. The results of the wholeprocess will be presented using graphs, charts, and tables.
Target population and Population size
A target populationis a group of individuals or people that the researcher intends to conduct theresearch and draw conclusions on it. For this research, young adults andadolescents of all gender will be considered. The research will not dwell ononly those who drink energy drinks but also those who do not drink for variedresponses. Hospitals will also be conducted to avail the list of those admittedor seek medical support due to aggressive consumption of energy drinks. Theresearch intends to target 700 young adults, 300 adolescents, and 50 hospitals.
Sample size
The sample sizeis the representation of the whole population. Out of one thousand, sevenhundred participants will be selected using the random sampling method, representing 70% of all the target population. The sample size is sufficient todraw the desired and reliable conclusion because it covers more than 50% of thetarget population. Out of the fifty hospitals targeted, a similar percentagewill be considered using a random sampling tool which translates to thirty-fivehospitals. The hospitals will help avail data for those recently admitted dueto consuming energy drinks or those who were offered outpatient services due toconsuming energy drinks (Luneke, 2018, 93). As mentioned in this document, youngadults and adolescents of all gender will be considered. The study will not beskewed to only those who drink energy drinks, but it will also gatherinformation from non-drinkers for quality data free from biases.
