We now move from Foxe’s work during his time period, to how his perspective can be used in modern church circles. Many Christians today in foreign countries still suffer imprisonment for their faith and so it will be helpful to discuss how Foxe’s discussion of Bunyan can relate to modern believers.
Read Foxe’s Book of Martyrs (Chapter 19 on John Bunyan (Links to an external site.)). http://www.ccel.org/f/foxe/martyrs/home.html
Prepare to discuss the relevance of Foxe’s discussion of Bunyan. Ensure the following points are addressed:
What insights can Foxe provide for today’s believers?
How can modern believers in persecuted settings relate to Bunyan?
How does God sometimes use suffering to achieve positive ends?
Write a 300-word post addressing the points above. Be sure to include information from appropriate texts with proper citations and a reference section if citations are included.
After reading the posts of all your fellow students, reply to two fellow students with a minimum 200-word post engaging their initial post. Feel free to ask questions regarding the information they share.
