Unit 5 Discussion Board 3: Management and Ethics
Unit 5 Discussion Board 3: Management and Ethics
Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 200–300 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas.
Much of the discussion in this course has focused on historical and current frameworks for ethical practice. As you review the various ethical issues that must be addressed locally and globally, develop a response that reflects your personal ethical orientation. How would you respond to a specific ethical dilemma or implement a corporate strategy toward being a good citizen in the marketplace?.
Using higher order thinking skills (HOTS) from Bloom’s Taxonomy, respond to the prompts. Be sure to demonstrate mastery of course content through the use of analysis, synthesis, and application of ideas.
Focus your discussion on the following:
• Describe the ideas that you had not previously considered, and explain how they have shaped (and perhaps altered) your vision of both personal and professional ethics.
• Discuss areas where your personal and professional ethical framework overlaps with historical ethical principles, and note whether the overlap has increased or decreased as a result of your reading.
Additional Information:
This week’s Discussion Board has us evaluating how we might respond if we were faced with an ethical dilemma or having the authority to establish a corporate strategy to promote ethical behavior in an organization. Looking at the ethical dilemma scenario, the quick answer is “I would do the right thing and blow the whistle if necessary”. While that sound good and is certainly for should happen, having been around the block many, many times in industries that were faced with very tough situations (and even multiple situations) daily, blowing that whistle is not an easy thing to do. If not done properly, one can put themselves and others at great risks professionally and even personally. Below are a couple of good sites from Harvard and Michigan State that might help you out in this discussion.

I ask you to take a deep look into your values and beliefs as well as past experiences when you post your discussion.
