Question:
What is the difference between strategic and operating controls? What level of management within your organization would be most concerned with operational controls?
Comment:
Strategic controls focus more on the strategy of a process, from the completion to the analyzation of how effective the process is, as well as what changes are needed to improve that process. Operating controls simply focuses on day to day operations of the organization. I believe that the immediate level of management would be the ones most concerned with the operational controls. When I say the immediate level, I mean the members of management such as the supervisors and assistant managers who ensure that the store stays up and running from day to day. In most instances the upper levels of management, such as the store manager, regional manager, and district manager are more interested in strategic controls to keep all the stores running.
