An individual suffering from GAD will have a consistent and more extended history of anxiety problems. Indeed, having a complete comprehension of the appropriate diagnosis criteria is crucial in differentiating a disorder from another. I agree with you that based on the DSM-5, when the symptoms of a presumed disease occur for six months, an individual must be suffering from that disorder. Besides, when a person exhibits more than three symptoms of the presumed disorder, they are likely to be suffering from it. According to Meek (2020), individuals suffering from an adjustment disorder manifest depression symptoms only when they are going through traumatic changes, such as divorce or death. I concur that the similarity in GAD symptoms and an adjustment disorder often cause a confusion; however, there is a distinction between the two.

As Kerr (2020) presented, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy will help an individual learn how to manage this condition by developing positive coping mechanisms.
