Software code is particularly sensitive. The code is made up of the very components that push companies to be at the top of their game. It’s the “secret ingredient”. Therefore, protecting software from exploitation and hackers is important. If left exposed, software code could pose as risk for the company and customers alike. Though there is no official, written rule for software development, Adobe can assure that their software was built to known or common standards by:
• Following the Software Development Life Cycle
o The SDLC is a workflow process used to guide developers through planning, strategizing, implementing, testing, deploying, and improving software programs. This life cycle is used by other major companies such as Microsoft. If Adobe follows this cycle closely, they can be assured that their software code is being protected at each stage in the process.
• Following standards listed by ISO 9001
o ISO 9001is “designed as a checklist for the development, supply and maintenance of computer software”. (https://www.iso.org/news/ref2356.html). It helps companies by giving a blueprint to managing software code from beginning to end of life.

Consumers demand that secure products come straight from the factory. Hence why security is a top priority for most technology companies. However, without a standard approach to security, it is nearly impossible to meet this expectation. Adobe can assure customers that its software was built to known standards by adhering to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and criteria established by ISO 9001.
The SDLC is a well-structured methodology that assists software developers with the design, implementation, and release of their programs. It captures common security practices within the industry and standardizes the best ones across various product lines and applications (Romeo, n.d.). This life cycle is also used by other major corporations, such as Microsoft, so Adobe knows their code is being protected at each phase of the process.
Similarly, ISO 9001 provides companies with the foundation for quality management control. This standard’s core principles focus on customer support, motivated leadership, and constant improvement (ISO, n.d.). As a result, consumers receive good-quality products and services which in turn brings Adobe more business opportunities and benefits.
A modern technology company cannot survive without ensuring the safety and security of its products. Therefore, every company should place security at the forefront of their development plan and integrate the SDLC and ISO 9001 into their business model.
