Your milestone two is due this week. Now that you’ve introduced your facility you’re going to go in and analyze several elements. This milestone is the hardest of them all. This Milestone is a GENERAL discussion of all the topics. Milestone 3 is where the example for your organization takes place. For Milestone 2- look at each area from a holistic, general point of view. We are looking at the healthcare industry in general. You can look regionally in your area, statewide or nationally at the topics-whatever works best for you. Please review the DB discussion in week 3 on Legislation and Policy- What is the difference before proceeding.
There are three separate areas for milestone two. Each of the key points under each numbered main point should have a paragraph. There should be a total of eight paragraphs at the very least for this paper. No need for an intro or conclusion for this milestone. Please be sure to cite all of the information. Do not use 1st person. Double space, Times New Roman, 12 font. 4-6 pages.
The first one is economic theories and principles related to economic disparities.
Economic disparities: If you remember from our readings economic disparities is a difference in measures of economic well-being among individuals within the community. What does your community reflect? Analyze the relationship between your community’s health care disparities and the financial well-being of the healthcare industry in the area and availability of healthcare.
Economic theories: Then you want to look at your top 2 to 3 economic theories that can be applied to the healthcare industry and then your rationale why. Provide a Health-related example. Apple Inc is not a healthcare organization.
Use of economic principles: Then you want to discuss how organizations use economic principles to guide short and long-term decision-making. In other words, how to economic principles guide your goals and decision-making process?
The second one discusses for-profit and nonprofit financial and economic differentiation.
Financial differentiation: logically analyze the differences between for-profit and nonprofit healthcare organizations financially. What are some specific characteristics that make the organizations different? Keep for-profit and nonprofit in separate paragraphs. Fully explain and provide characteristics and a health-related example. Be sure to show characteristics that are similar and different.
Economic differentiation: how do you distinguish for-profit and nonprofit from the lens [viewpoint] of economic policies and legislation? What key recent and current economic policies impact each? Please refer to the DB discussion posts on legislation and policy. Use a healthcare policy as an example to show the differences when applied to legislation.
The third one discusses policy, changes and disparities
Economic policy and disparities in care: using current research from the last five years analyze the relationship between economic policy and disparities in care. How are they connected and how do they differ? So, review the literature from the last five years on your topic and effectively analyze the relationship between economic policy and disparities in healthcare. This is typically 2-3 paragraphs long. No solutions for this section. The focus in on the issues, barriers etc. Suggestions to proceed are:
Paragraph 1: Define the healthcare policy and disparities. Then define/discuss the relationship between the economic healthcare policy and healthcare disparity. You can use a health-related example.
Paragraph 2: How are healthcare economic policies and healthcare disparities connected? Focus in on one disparity connected to your healthcare policy. What connects these two areas? You can use health-related example.
Paragraph 3: How are these entities different? What doesn’t connect? Generally, this is how the disparity develops. You can use a health-related example.
Policy changes: what impact can recent legislative changes have on the economic policy in healthcare in general? Please use current legislation and policy. Do not use any proposed policies as they are not currently law. Use the legal current economic healthcare policies. This is a more global aspect of health care changes in legislation.
Disparities planning: why are disparities of care factored into health care strategic planning for various healthcare organizations? Explain the rationale and provide examples for support where appropriate.
