Mrs. Goldman is a current patient who is in your clinic seeing her usual doctor. Due to her nonhealing injury, she is now being referred to the specialist down the hall in the surgery clinic. As the office manager, you coordinate the referral, and fortunately, the specialist is able to see Mrs. Goldman today. You send Mrs. Goldman and her daughter to the specialist’s office along with a paper copy of the EHR doctor’s note from today’s visit. Prior to leaving your office, Mrs. Goldman asks you to interpret her copy of the doctor’s visit (SOAP note).
