PEERS RESPONSE:

 In my opinion, reading is the process of reading words from a text, story, or passage. I think writing is to express your understanding of a story, text, or passage in a summary of writing assignments. I googled the relationship between reading and writing, and the meaning said since writing is the act of transmitting knowledge in print, we must have information to share before we can write it. Reading plays a major role in writing. When you practice writing, it helps build reading skills. Students need to complete assigned reading because it gives them the information they need to write or answer questions about. If you don't complete the assigned reading you will not know what is being asked of you in the writing assignment. Reading and writing are not separate activities but as two tightly connected parts of the same whole. According to the popular view, when we read, we "consume" texts, and when we write, we "produce" texts. (Research and Critical Reading, para 4) When writing, the audience is a critical component of the writing assignment. It is important to know your purpose for writing as well as your audience. When writing, it is important not to use slang or conversational style writing. It can sometimes confuse you if you are not careful. One of the sources I used in my discussion was Research and Critical Reading by Pavel Zemilansky. I also read the Writing Spaces: Readings on Writings, Volume 1.
