 During the second wave of the Great Migration, the Black Church remained a vital force in Black America. The church helped hundreds of thousands of migrants adjust to urban life in northern cities and simultaneously fought for black freedom, justice, and equality. The evolution of the African American church is examined in the documentary, “The Black Church with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.” For this assignment, please watch Episode 1 of the documentary and write an essay on your review of the film.
