 Use information from two of the required readings from Chapter 9 in an explanatory synthesis.

1. Milgram has written that "perhaps the most fundamental lesson of our study [is that] ordinary people, simply doing their jobs, and without any particular hostility on their part, can become agents in a terrible destructive process." Using this statement as a principle, discuss some of the situations described in the assigned readings from this chapter and draw on Milgram's conclusions to suggest reasons for the "ordinary  people's" behavior.
   Use at least 3 citations (i.e., quotations, summaries, and/or paraphrases) and include the works cited entries that you should format following the model in your handbook for "two or more sources from an anthology." Be sure to head your paper appropriately. Your essay should be at least 500 words long. 
2. Ross and Nisbett suggest that the "situational variable," rather than a person's individual conscience, may be the key predictor in how the person will behave in a given scenario. In a well-developed explanatory synthesis, discuss the power of situations, as distinct from individual conscience, to influence a person's behavior. Draw upon at least three of the assigned readings in this chapter for examples.
