2. Refer to Table 3A-1 and 3A-2 in the Appendix at the end of this chapter. The total population in 2003 was 290,810,789 (males= 143,037,290; females = 147,773,449). For 2003, the total number of live births was 4,089,950.
a. Complete the following:
i. Calculate the crude death rate (per 100,000) and the cause-specific death rates (per 100,000) for accidents, malignant neoplasms and Alzheimer’s disease. Repeat these calculations for males and females separately.
ii. What is the PMR (percent) for accidents, malignant neoplasms and Alzheimer’s disease. Repeat these calculations for males and females separately.
b. Complete all of the following:
i. Calculate the maternal mortality rate (per 100,000 live births).
ii. Calculate the infant mortality rate (per 100,000 live births).
iii. Calculate the crude birth rate (per 100,000 population).
iv. Calculate the general fertility rate (per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44 years).
