Assignment #2: Outline how the theories and your interpretations apply to the biography you are analyzing. – 25 Points

In this assignment can take the different aspects of the person’s life (I am not expecting all), and the concepts from the theories that you are using to analyze. For example, if you were analyzing Marilyn Monroe’s life you could use Erikson’s stages of development as follows:

Marilyn’s life history revealed that she had many struggles that could have resulted in the need to be loved, which also appears to have impacted the development of a healthy identity. Erikson’s theory looks at human psychosocial  development as occurring in eight stages. Marilyn could have experienced intense challenges that could have led to some negative outcomes in the  following stages: Trust vs. Mistrust, Identity vs. Identity Diffusion, and Intimacy vs. Isolation are the stages that Marilyn didn’t quite overcome to her fullest potential.For instance, Trust vs. Mistrust is said to be “During the first year of life, the infant develops basic trust and basic mistrust. Basic trust is the sense that others are dependable and will provide what is needed” (Cloninger 91).
