Assignment: Effective Patient Safety Strategy

 Technology is integral to successful implementation in many projects, through either support or integration or both. Name at least one technology that could improve the implementation process and the outcomes of your EBP project. Do you plan to use this technology? If not, what are the barriers that prevent its use?

Technology is very important to any improvements that are being made now a days. My EBP has to do with falls and right now at the hospital they have sign in sheets in each room and most nurses just sign them towards the end of the day. They don’t do the necessary hourly rounding because they know they can sign it when they are done. If the hospital had a nurse tracking device and this is in every room at the hand sanitizer. This device the nurse has to scan every time they enter the room to do the hourly rounding. This will make it so the nurse has to go in the room every hour. This would make the nurse lay eye son the patients every hour and it will help cut down on falls in the hospital. Another piece of technology that would help my EBP is a new falls risk scale. The one the hospital has now is only 5 questions and it doesn’t cover the main fall risk which is age. If the hospital can get a new fall risk scale with the main risk is being age it would help cut down on falls. Because it would make the nurse put into place the proper precautions for each patient.
