Students will write a minimum 3 page reflection on their relationship with public speaking thus far. Papers will be judged based on quality and quantity of the analysis and reflection on the student’s speaking process thus far. Papers should answer these questions using our class language and the objective (to get the audience to LISTEN) as a guide: 1. What public speaking elements have I experienced growth in? 2. What public speaking elements do I still need to work on? 3. How successful am I in getting the audience to actually listen? 4. How successful am I in finding an effective ‘why we should listen?’ 5. What elements have I observed in others that make a successful speech? Papers may be in first person (journal entry like format) but should have an introduction, body and conclusion and have multiple paragraphs that each discuss a single idea. Be reflective, ponder, think deeply. Statements like ‘I wonder if I did XXX if I would have XXX reaction from the audience’ are encouraged as you work through your experience as a student studying a specific technique.
