NEW DEVISED SUBTEXT MONOLOGUE ASSIGNMENT:Based on the information in your ‘Who Am I?’ paper, please write an approximately 250-word monologue (somewhere between 225-275 words please), in the voice of your character. You may revise some of the material from your ‘Who Am I?’ paper in order to do this. The monologue should be directed at the OTHER CHARACTER(s) in the scene, and should be a direct spoken iteration of the SUBTEXT you can deduce in the scene you were assigned, in other words, the things your character doesn’t directly say, but what s/he might be THINKING underneath the words that the playwright gave to her/him. It should be based on WHAT YOUR CHARACTER WANTS FROM THE OTHER CHARACTER, i.e. your OBJECTIVE in the scene, as well as your character’s SUPEROBJECTIVE in the play.This monologue should reflect the character work you have already been doing to prepare for the scene, and again should be written in the voice of your character.
