Analyze a poem by a significant poet. The perspective of time is often a theme in poetry. This activity requires that you select a work of poetry and analyze that work within the form of a reader response essay. This form of response allows you to reveal how you personally react to the chosen text. Analyze how this poem reflects your personal worldview—how you react to the perspective of time. Do you reject the poet’s description of time? Is there a line or stanza that resonates with you on a personal level? Or, do you simply fear that time is passing you by, like the grains of sand in an hourglass? There is no right or wrong response. Learning Activity #4: WK3 Poetry Analysis Response Write a 300-350 word response where you choose one poem from the category Perspectives on Time (located on your checklist, p.1) and offer a personal (reader response) essay. Include in your response why you chose the particular poem. The poem I chose from my list is How Do I Love Thee by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
