Driving intoxicated is against the law and illegal. While driving when tired is bad, usually people will pull over and take a nap or get help. Before i was a firefighter, I drove tractor trailers for a living. I have a first hand what it is like driving while sleepy. I know some people have medical conditions that cause them to fall asleep at a drop of a hat, but that usually can be minimized with medications or suspending their drivers license. Someone who deliberately gets behind the wheel of a motor vehicle intoxicated has no respect for anyone else out on the road. It is a lack of caring for the life of themselves or the lives of others. The intoxicated person should be charged to the fullest extent of the law possible.
