Baltimore, Maryland has a heroin epidemic that has led to private and political battles on drugs affecting the growth of the city. This issue also includes an increasing amount of penalty, enforcement, and incarceration because of drug abuse and addiction. In response to the drug crisis, Baltimore’s leaders plan to make unlimited treatment services available upon request. Their success in doing so could provide a powerful model for other cities and states across the country. Research across the country demonstrates that treatment pays for itself by averting the much steeper health care and crime-related costs that addiction imposes when left unchecked (National Institute of Drug Abuse, 2019). Kolmac Outpatient Recovery, Mountain Manor Treatment Center, Tuerk House, Reflective Treatment Center, and Helping l-Up Mission provide services for substance abuse treatment, which include cognitive behavioral therapy and spiritual recovery. This study is conducted by using the case study method that allows an examination of the infracture of the agency’s mission, program implementation, and available data of effectiveness. The overall goal of this program evaluation is to enhance the knowledge of substance abuse treatment services and identify the current gaps needed to improve substance abuse treatment advocacy.This is my abstract and the sources you may use.
