As social media becomes a part of the workplace, employees may use it in different ways. Social media and other technology use may vary according to a person’s background, job function, or factors such as a person’s age. Today’s workplace consists of workers from different generations, including Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y, and Millennials. Think about someone you know who is from a different generation than you (older or younger), and who works or volunteers with an organization.

For this Assignment, you will conduct an interview with that individual and analyze their personal and professional use of social media.

To prepare:

Review this week’s Learning Resources.
Consider who, from a different generation, you might choose to interview.
Think about how their use of social media might differ from yours.
With these thoughts in mind:

Answer the following questions in a 3- to 4-paragraph paper (of at least 250 words):

How does your interviewee use social media, both for personal and professional purposes?
Compare how this person uses social media to the way you use it. Review Chapter 1 of The Social Media Bible to highlight differences between their use and your own.
How has their use of social media developed over time? What factors do you feel have influenced this development?
Your assignment is not to assess their use as good or bad, or better or worse than your own. You are documenting observations and making comparisons.
