What to do:
When learning is truly taking place, you take what you’ve learned in one sphere and apply it to other places in your life; in this case, hopefully you’re applying the knowledge about reading/writing/learning to other disciplines and specifically will be applying the knowledge learned in subsequent English classes. In order to best facilitate this, one should periodically assess their learning, to reflect on and highlight the most important aspects of what they experienced. Today, well consolidate the most important information learned in this class, by writing down, in the form of a letter to yourself, what you learned about the content and what you learned about learningreading/writing. Id like you to write a letter as if it is to yourself (in essay formi.e. intro, body, conclusion) explaining what you learned in the class, about the topics and what you learned about reading/writing.
Focus Question:
What did you learn this quarter that is worth remembering and using in subsequent classes? What did you learn about the Topics/content and what did you learn about reading, writing or critical thinking?
-In the introduction, introduce what you feel was the most important or most general thing you learned.
-In the body of the essay, organize around your controlling idea, developing many of the aspects of learning explored in the worksheet below.
-You need to develop 4 body paragraphs, addressing 4 separate topics/points where you have learned something, using specifics from your portfolio or final drafts to help you provide evidence of your learning.
