The Introduction Section of your research proposal must include the following SIX elements:
A general introduction to your topic of interest.
This is like a typical introduction that youd write for any essay.  Its an opportunity for you to provide an introduction to your topic and variables. 
The Purpose of the Study.
Tell me, why is your research topic important?  What are you trying to accomplish?
Operational Definitions for your independent and dependent variables.
How are you defining your variables?  In other words, how will you specifically manipulate your independent variable and how will you specifically measure your dependent variable?
A complete Review of the Literature, citing AT LEAST 3 to 5 related studies
What have other researchers found regarding your variables?  You should discuss these other researchers methods, findings, and limitations.

A Hypothesis for the experiment you plan on proposing.
What specific prediction do you have about the relationship between your IV and DV?

Research Design
Provide an explanation of the experimental research design youve selected.  Why did you select this specific design (e.g., what are the advantages/disadvantages)? Participants
Provide a description of your intended participants.  You need to discuss details such as where youd recruit them from, your specific sampling method, as well as any other characteristics that should be noted (e.g., their age, sex, ethnicity Materials and Instrumentation
Provide a description of any materials and instruments that youll need to manipulate your IV and measure your DV.  If you plan to borrow a survey from existing research to measure your DV, please include it as an appendix.  If you need to create a survey to measure your DV, you must include a sample of the survey (usually, 3 to 5 questions is sufficient).  Procedures
Provide a VERY DETAILED description of your intended procedures.  In other words, how would you, step-by-step, conduct your study from start to finishPlease be sure to specifically mention how you will: Select participants, control for expectation effects, manipulate the IV, and measure the DV/collect data at some point within this section
