Some organizations set up a long and complex selection process. In some peoples opinion, not only is this kind of selection process more valid, it also has symbolic value. What can the use of a long, complex selection process symbolize to job seekers? How do you think this would affect the organizations ability to attract the best employees?

The complex selection process of when an employer for a business selects a potential is very symbolic and it works. The reason that it works because as reading in the text book and working in retail environments, customer service environments it helps a company find the right employee that fits the company mold and they can train and bring that person on. Some methods of a selection process can result in a high turnover, the employee that you thought was a right fit was not at all and the cost of having an interview process, and aptitude testing, and also sending the customer for drug test, and background testing, and in some situations an credit check for employees who will be cash handling. I’m saying all of this is because all of this will cost the business money and I would rather take my time with a potential new employee from the interview, then look at the job experience, and have them take a test, and reach out to references, and then the testings to make sure everything is going great according to plan. This type of selection process will affect the organization because when there is reviews being made about the company a lot of the questions will be asked about the process and some will say that it takes long than usual but it is thorough and also it weeds out the process of some people who just want to be hired quickly versus someone who really want to be apart to the organization and it show that the potential new employee is the right fit and it is money well spent on bringing someone new on board and then after that the money that is also being paid for training so it is a process that  cost time and money.
