Post Project: Delivering TQM in the workplace
Objective: Analyze the TQM process strategy to apply continuous improvement to operations and management.
Introduction: TQM is a comprehensive and structured approach to management that seeks to improve the quality of products and services through ongoing evaluation and change processes in response to continuous feedback. The TQM framework can be extended to quality improvement across a variety of industries, including manufacturing and services.
Deliverables:
The post project for this lesson is required to be a minimum of 750 words that clearly demonstrate your understanding of the activity. Post project essays should have a clear introduction, thesis statement and conclusion, written in APA format (Purdue OWL). A minimum of three sources, at least two from the lesson, must be cited in-text and in the Reference list.
Activity Details:
Step 1: Introduction
Begin with an introductory paragraph that introduces Total Quality Management (TQM) and an overview description how TQM sets the culture, attitude, and organization of a company to align to the customer with products and services that satisfies their needs.
Step 2: Research and find a Case Study
Review the Lesson Readings as well as external resources from the Internet, books, journals, etc. In order to find a company.
Once you have completed your research and found a company: observe how the company uses Total Quality Management (TQM) to build a culture of quality. Pay special attention to the four strategic areas of operations: facilities, materials, quality, and technology as well as how they evaluate their processes in order to eliminate inefficiencies and unethical practices.
Step 3: Read an Article
The rapid expansion of businesses around the world have increased the need for companies to implement teamwork as part of their TQM operations process. As part of the TQM process, teamwork has facilitated the continuous improvement strategies by extending the capacity of knowledge, expertise, and specialization. Read the article below about the value of teams in new product development (NPD).
