Birth control and infertility

Answer these questions in the essay:
1.  Contraception, Abortion and Infanticide.  Access to reliable and safe contraception is a way to keep abortion rates low.  In some societies, good contraception policy may even help infanticide.  Find out which countries have high rates of abortion and infanticide.  Pick one country.  Then consider the following for that country:  A.  Do women have access to birth control?  If so, what kind?  B.  What efforts are being made by governments, international organizations or womens groups to change the situation?  C.  Are there societies where one sex is more often subject to infanticide?  Why?  D.  Are there any aspects of the countrys situation that resemble that of the U.S.?

2.  Infertility.  It is not uncommon in the U.S. today to remain childless by choice. But people who want biological children and have been unable to conceive can feel as if the choice was not theirs to make.  Although the causes of infertility are not fully understood, there are some social behaviors that are thought to contribute to making conception less likely.  Search infertility, then discuss:  A.  Does research show that infertility is truly on the rise, or is it impossible to know?  Explain your answer.  B.  Discuss the effect on fertility of each of the following: STDs; Age; Alcohol, drug use and smoking; Stress; Environmental factors.
