The trans community has come a long way as far as rights go. In the past, trans people were extremely discriminated against and basic rights were taken from them. Trans people would be discriminated against in the workplace, the rental community, adoption community, and just anywhere in their daily life. People within the trans community have worked long and hard to see change so they no longer experience unnecessary and cruel discrimination. The fight has led to many changes in legislation to ensure nobody can discriminate without having to face serious consequences. Employers cannot discriminate any longer neither can landlords. We are slowly seeing a positive change in the world. However, despite all the work that has been done, we can still do more! Trans people still do not have equal rights to non-trans people in some respects. Areas such a marriage. In some places, same-sex marriage is still prohibited. This needs to change so everyone can be with who they love and do so without any discrimination. We have made so much progress in the trans community when it comes to their individual rights but in some areas, we can still do a lot of improving.
