Identify two stakeholder barriers you might experience during the implementation phase of your evidence-based practice project. This could range from support of the evidence-based project proposal to communication gaps. How could you address these problems?

POST 1
Engaging with staff nurses to implement the EBP will be a major barrier. Disseminating evidence through publications and mass mailings are not effective. Training workshops, replication demos and hands on assistance have been proven to be more successful. Making the data meaningful and practical especially for nurses is key, for example in the EBP study of placing babies on their backs, one physician kept telling nurses to place babies on their backs but they would not, because they were taught to place them on their stomachs to avoid aspiration if they vomited until he had to conduct a practical demonstration with the baby and the nurses. He gathered the nurses around a basinet and registered pulse oximetry with the baby on her side, then on her stomach, and then on her back. When the nurses saw the difference in the results they agreed that placing the baby on her back was best and they changed their practice (Johnson, 2013).
Patient’s family members would also be a barrier to implementation. Their is increasing normalisation of overweight and obesity in some communities so lifestyle changes would not be a priority. If the patient’s lack support from home, social environment and community at large then healthy lifestyle choices will be hindered. Education and practical training skills for easy healthy meals will be key to bridge the knowledge gap and overcome these stakeholders change barriers (Kelleher, Harrington, Shiely, Perry & McHugh, 2017).
POST 2
Two stakeholder barriers that I might experiences during implementation are willingness of teachers to accept education and support from the community to allow mental health education in public schools. The best way to address it though and overtcome barriers is to present objective data about the benefits of education in schools on this topic. There is research supporting teacher education and knowledge of mental health, showing that improvements in MHL and moderate improvements in help-seeking intentions [that] were accompanied by large decreases in mental health misconceptionsteacher observations suggested anecdotal evidence of increased student self-identification with mental health diagnoses, openness to share, and peer acceptance (Yang, Cervera, Tye, Ekker, & Pierret, 2018, p. 8). From a community standpoint, utilizing state and national statistics on adolescent mental health disorders would be our strongest point, so that people can learn how prominent of an issue this is. Most barriers that exist with stakeholders can be broken down by increasing education and strong support of EBP interventions.
