On June 7, 2019, the Religious Freedom Center hosted a day-long symposium Disrupt the Narrative: Centering African American Perspectives on Religious Freedom.”  This public conversation explored the ethics and complex politics of race and religious freedom by centering the issues, narratives and experiences of African Americans in the United States.

For your assignment, watch the YouTube video entitled Disrupt the Narrative: Centering African American Perspectives on Religious Freedom. (Part I only).

1. Submit a one page paper/memo (400-500 words, **single-spaced, Times New Roman, 12-point-font) ) in response to watching the video Disrupt the Narrative: Centering African American Perspectives on Religious Freedom. 

2. Respond to any two points that supported or challenged your understanding of religious freedom as highlighted by the keynote speaker, Dr. Tisa Wenger. 

3. Explore and discuss at least two examples of how themes of violence, power, sacred space, and/or identity have shaped the God-talk (theology) and the narratives in the African American religious experience.
