Instructions
The purpose of this assignment is to write an introduction to a literature review, which clearly and succinctly introduces your topic to the reader. You will also outline the rest of the literature review.
The Introduction to the partial literature review sets the stage for the reader to understand why your issue is of concern. It informs the reader as to why this issue is a problem and why it should be studied.
The search history is a paragraph about how you found the literature you used. A reader should be able to take your basic history and find approximately the same articles.
The introduction will include a description of your search history.
Using APA formatting write 2–3 pages (excluding the title page), providing introductory and background information about your topic of interest and your search history.
See the rubric (below) for the content that needs to be included in the introduction.
Turn in the following (all bundled in a single file):
Title page
Introduction (remember that APA does not use “Introduction” as a heading level)
Search history
In an outline format, lay out the rest of the literature review. Use short sentences and be clear as well as concise.

MY QUESTION IS ABOUT THE BEST METHOD TO PREVENT PRESSURE ULCERS IN NON-AMBULATORY PATIENTS.
THIS IS MY PICO QUESTION –
PICO Question
With an urge to find the best strategy in preventing pressure ulcers a PICO question was developed. The question is “how does repositioning and turning every one to two hours in comparison to the use of pressure-redistributing support surfaces prevent pressure ulcers occurrences in non-ambulatory patients?”
P: Non- ambulatory patients. These are individuals who cannot move without the assistance of others. They require other peoples’ aid for some locomotion.
I: Repositioning and turning every 1-2 hrs. Repositioning and turning is the placing of a patient in a manner that their body weight does not cause or exert pressure on some of their body parts. These combined interventions are controlled through constant patient monitoring and ensuring that the needed body shift is performed within the stipulated time. The intervention requires the presence of a person ensuring the body change is conducted.
C: Use of pressure-redistributing and support surfaces (PRSSs). PRSSs are utilized in the spreading of pressure on the skin and the subcutaneous tissues or the parts of the body pressure. This intervention uses devices such as mattresses, cushions, overlays, and seatings in pressure ulcers prevention. It is more commonly used in non-ambulatory individuals.
O: Pressure ulcers prevention. The primary goal of the research is to come up with the best strategy for minimizing the risk of pressure ulcers for non- ambulatory patients.
The reviews’ purpose is to assess the best intervention in preventing of pressure ulcers in non-ambulatory patients.
